Picnic Wine and Deviled Eggs: Best Picnic Foods for Summer!

Summer isn’t over yet! There’s still time to sneak in a few more BBQs and picnics, especially with the upcoming Labor Day weekend. And when you start planning your menu, for the love of goodness, don’t forget two of our favorite picnic foods: deviled eggs and alcohol (that’s my kind of picnic, anyway!). Here, we highlight some of our favorite punch cocktail recipes found online, as well as a zesty avocado lime deviled egg recipe and my Mom’s (in)famous deviled egg recipe.

First, some bubbly fun:

One favorite picnic wine for summer is, of course, sangria – a sort of wine punch. Ay yi yi! Check out this awesome recipe for a refreshing Summer Fruit Sangria cocktail which boasts the likes of mango, pineapple, cantaloupe, and apricot. Just mash them up, douse them with white wine, then add a pinch of basil or mint and a splash of orange liqueur, and voila! White wine punch to die for! Such an easy addition to your spread.

Another yummy recipe for picnic wine is Strawberry and Lime Moscato Punch, pairing a sweet wine with invigorating strawberry lime. Using frozen limeade concentrate and fresh strawberries as a base, this one only takes about five minutes to prepare – perfect for entertaining. This site has several other amazing punch cocktail recipes. Note you can make a few of these with or without alcohol. Mmmm, yummy AND versatile!

What we love most about these sangria and punch cocktail recipes is how easy they are. Check ‘em out! And don’t forget, when you’re out among the elements with your favorite drinks, be sure to use your Kup Kap insulated cup cover from Koffee Kompanions to keep those pesky bugs away!

Another staple of the American picnic food is deviled eggs. Read a throw-back blog in which my Mom shares her own special deviled egg recipe. It’s a lesson in how mistakes can sometimes lead to the best things in life (bacon)! Whenever I learn my Mom will be making these eggs, I literally start drooling on the spot – they are that good. Tip: if you have too much egg mixture left over, slap it between two pieces of bread and make some egg salad sandwiches for a yummy and easy addition to your picnic.

Munching on pork not your thing? This Avocado Lime Deviled Eggs recipe, also previously posted on Koffee Kompanions’ blog, is vegetarian-approved by my vegetarian brother – who won’t eat anything that once had a heartbeat.

So, what are your favorite picnic recipes? We’d love to know!
