Home Grown Tales readers theatre
This is the parlor room where the readings took place in the Woman's Press Club house. Colorado Homegrown Tales presented the two short stories. The company performs reader's theatre with actors who read entertaining stories written by Colorado writers.
The founder of Homegrown Tales, Debbie Knapp, is reading "The Family Snake Oil" by Jerrie Hurd. I loved listening to Debbie read this funny story about a crafty woman who knows her way around snakes and real estate. Debbie expressed the emotions of the story's characters as she read in several different voices. Her southern accents were very good!
This stylish lady standing by the parlor's piano is Linda Berry, the author of "Closure". Debbie and Sally Kurtzman read her funny story that has serious undertones. It's about one woman's way of coping with widowhood as she scatters her husband's ashes in some rather unusual places!
