In 1896, the mayor of Denver received a small, orphaned black bear named Billy Bryan. The bear became the first resident of the Denver Zoo. Today, the zoo houses 3500 animals representing 650 species including some endangered. It’s located on eighty acres within Denver's City Park.
After baking cookies, we visited the zoo to enjoy Zoolights, the largest light display in the Rocky Mountain Region. The entrance shows some of the glittering trees. There are millions of environmentally friendly LED lights!
